Delicate Cookies--Love at First Bite!
A friend introduced me to Mallomars in the 60's, and it was love at first bite! There's something inwardly satisfying about a delicate, crumbly cookie, topped with tasty, fluffy marshmallow, that is completely covered with a thin coating of delicious chocolate. Is it any surprise that Mallomars have been pleasing the palates of cookie lovers ever since 1913?Mallomars are pretty good nutritionally: two (2) cookies have 120 calories (45 calories from fat), 18g carbohydrates (1g from dietary fiber, 12g from sugar), 1g protein, and only 40mg sodium. The sodium is negligible, if you're on a low-to-moderate-sodium diet!To me, these cookies taste completely "real" or "natural", because they don't leave any artificial chemical aftertaste. The main ingredients are sugar, chocolate, cocoa butter, milk, and vitamin-enriched flour. Nabisco Mallomars Pure Chocolate Cookies--A Bit-e of Nostalgia
Every time I bite into a Nabisco Mallomars Pure Chocolate cookie, I feel like I am eight years old again and back on what was my regular everyday staple diet of Mallomars, Twinkies and Dairy Queen ice cream.(Thank goodness, when I was growing up, we didn't obsess about "health" since we were just carefree, junk-food eating kids. NOTE: It seems, too, that my generation, who grew up in the 70s, died young from drug addiction, and NOT from poor junk food diets!)Anyway, my brain wanted to outweigh my heart intoxicated from nostalgia and say, "Hey, this stuff isn't so good for you ... how can it be? Mallomars Deserve 10 Stars
I am a fan of fresh baked goods and tend to eschew the traditional brand-name cookies. If my husband buys Chips Ahoy, for example, he is safe from having me share them.There are exceptions to my rule. Vienna Fingers, Milanos...I will allow them into my kitchen and my tummy.But none of them remotely compare to the cookie I actually crave: the not-remotely-humble Mallomar.The delicious, thin dark chocolate cover is in complete harmony with the amount of marshmallow and graham cracker cookie bottom. The balance is exquisite. This cookie is every bit as special as any baked good. More, in many cases.If you have never treated yourself to the joy that is a Mallomar, go get yourself a box and revel in its perfection. It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This....
I would never have known about these killer chocolatey treats if my mother hadn't bought a whole crate of them in a fit of nostalgia a couple months back (they were her favorites when she was a kid in the '60s). After trying one, my world was forever changed. The ingenius combination of chocolate, marshmallow fluff, and just a little shaved coconut seems simple enough, but only Boyer's Mallo Cups taste anything like this...earth-shatteringly good. My initial pleasant shock led me to explore more obscure candy that isn't widely availible in my region. I'll never again restrict myself to the much better known but markedly lower in quality candy behemoths who dwarf the Boyers, Pearsons, Neccos, Atkinsons, and Annabelles of the world.

Mallo Cup candy is the best candy that has ever been made and put on the market to buy.I use to buy Mallo Cup every time i got money growing up as a kid.To this day Mallo Cup still has that smooth chocolate and coconut taste. Only problem ,i can't find it in the area i live anymore.Then i came across it online,and i plan on buying a good supply of it.Try it,and i am sure you will agree.If not,then you are not a true candy lover.

Classic treat but why pay double for shipping
Moon Pies are a classic treat that taste great. And why not? They are essentially graham cracker cookies filled with marshmallow cream (Fluff) and dipped in chocolate. Amazingly, not even unhealthy! No cholesterol or trans fat. 220 calories but we all have to live a little and each one is bigger than a hockey puck after all.So let me cut to the chase:Both sellers here charge as much for shipping as they do for the product! That effectively doubles the price of a 12-pack box to more than fifteen dollars.Here's the solution. I found Moon Pies in all three flavors (Chocolate, Vanilla, Banana, though I only buy the original!) at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores which are attached to the restaurants. The cost? Four ninety-nine plus tax for the same sized box. That was last year. Also, Chattanooga Bakery (they invented the Moon Pie eighty years ago) indicated these are available at many Wal-Marts across the country. Buying locally would prevent some...

My kids love these!
My kids LOVE these chocolate moon pies, so I order a few boxes 2-3 times a year. (They are not available locally - in Northern California.) The secret to receiving them in pristine condition is to order them during cooler weather months. If you order in the summer they will arrive melted.

My Wife Could Become Addicted, But Not At 110 Calories Per "Pie"
Before my wife and I were married, her favorite dessert was - of all things - Moon Pies. When we left Southern California in 1964, we couldn't find them anywhere. So, with the advent of Amazon and online shopping, I looked them up, and although I had to order from 2500 miles away, I surprised her yesterday with a "just for the heck of it" gift.She was elated, and she said that they were just as she remembered them. Delicious!But, these were a THIRD the size of the ORIGINALS, and the calorie count of 110 for what is basically a marshmallow-filled cookie, she may have to wait another 45 years to get another batch. The look on her face was worth the $25 it ultimately cost me, but neither of us can afford the intake of those calories today. If only they had put the "Only 110 Calories" in small print on the side and not in big print on the front, top, and back! Ignorance is bliss...

Still my favorite :-)
In my humble opinion these are the best cookies EVER. Although I suppose since half of it is marshmallow, "cookie" is a bit of a misnomer. What they are is a chocolate cake-like cookie topped with a ring of marshmallow and covered in chocolate. Pricey little buggers, but very worth it. If you are either overly attached to the traditional concept of a "cookie" (how boring...) or have a particular aversion to marshmallow (how do you not like marshmallows?????), perhaps Pinwheels are not for you. (Yay, more for the rest of us.) Word of warning: Nabisco only sells the real thing during the winter months when the chocolate won't melt during shipping. During the summer they replace Pinwheels with some nasty confection referred to as Twirls. They look just like Pinwheels but they are coated with brown, waxy, imitation chocolate and are best avoided.

Devil Dogs - a treat to eat!
After asking friends to find Devil Dogs for us when they visited NYC we finally found these on Amazon. They are as rare as Mallomars are on the West Coast (California) and some addicts will pay through the nose just to get them once in a while. I called Hostess Cakes which now owns Drake's Cakes but they concurred that they were only available on the East Coast and they couldn't even tell me where they were sold in NYC, so I gave up and ordered these. They came by ground UPS and it took a week but they are fresh and will be devoured before their best by date.
