Vonage Box
Does the job effectively and inexpensively. If you have multiple lines the vonage costs more to operate than other service like comcast voice. But I like it because I can have the lines follow me to my vacation home, or any other place I can plug it into an ethernet network. Vonage works great when there is enough upload bandwidth. If the other person cannot hear you but you can hear them it is typically a bandwidth problem.

Simply Vonage
I'm a vonage customer for several yrs. now. I used to have a Linksys WRT54GP2 unit which is a vonage adapter and a network wireless G router combined for @ least 8 yrs.and have noticed for the last 3 months that it was slowing down the internet connection and was getting more and more drop calls (as in everyday) with Linksys. I decided to purchase a separate wireless N network device and Vonage VDV22 recently and voila ! solved my problems for now. I have been using this unit for approx 3 weeks, and been making calls everyday without any drop calls @ all and my comcast internet is now back to 24 to 25 Mbps download speed using Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router. For now it's great ! but we'll see, time will tell.

Replaced my Linksys beastie with this little wonder...
I was having some problems with my Linksys Vonage box in that I was getting random, and quite frequent line goes dead in the middle of a conversation. I decided to try this unit as it was quite inexpensive and the rest of my hardware is already D-Link. So, I switched out the Linksys and in with the D-Link and we've not had any dropped calls since. Its nice that it is small/compact and doesn't take up much space and the wall wart AC adapter is smaller than what it replaced. Hope this one lasts longer than the Linksys box.

Basic, but reliable connectivity.
I've had the D-Link VTA-VR VoIP adapter for about 6 months now.The big thing this adapter has going for it is size. Barely bigger than a pack of smokes, it packs a full dual-line VoIP capability. The ports on the back are line 1, line 2, ethernet, and power. What more do you need? A built-in ethernet switch might be handy, but would add size and weight, which I don't need either of.As for Vonage's customer service; I have yet to talk to a human! Everything can be accomplished through their website, including checking voicemail, adding a second line, and setting up an email notification when you get a voicemail. I have yet to run into an issue that couldn't be handled easily, by myself, over their website. The sound quality on this is no better or worse than a POTS line (plain old phone service) (what you'd get from a landline carrier). Calls are placed and received reliably, and there is no problem using my cordless phone and Fax machine over...

Easy, clear and functional right out of the box
This was a recommended router by Vonage, with whom I've been a customer for almost five years. I had an outdated phone converter and needed to buy a replacement unit. I bought this online, followed the simple instructions on the box - since I already had a Vonage account there was no new setup - and voila, two minutes later I had a dial tone. How nice.

A great phone set to save money & minimize wiring
I've used Vongage for several years and have always been very pleased with the service. People say I sound very crisp & clear, and I've never had any other problems of any kind.I had a previous set of Vonage cordless phones that lasted so long all of the batteries needed replaced. Rather than spend $75 on batteries, I bought this new kit. The phones are a bit smaller and I liked the orange bright display. These phones are essentially plug & play. Once your Vonage account is set up with the ID of the system, everything else is easy. One phone gets plugged in to the vonage box that plugs into the internet and the rest operate cordlessly from that home unit. These units have a variety of volumes & ringtones. I'm not a huge fan of talking on the telephone, but these make it bearable. Completely satisfied & recommended.

An excellent upgrade - great sound quality, easy to connect
I've had Vonage for several years - started out with a stand alone Vonage phone that used my wireless network (not very good sound quality), then moved up to one of the DECT 6.0 boxes connected to a wired handset (good sound quality, but missed being able to walk around and get other things done while speaking to my parents half a world away). Fortunately my wife fried that box (fault of her cup of coffee, not the box) so we used the opportunity to buy a new box along with the three cordless handsets. Switching from one box to the other was very easy using the Vonage website and things have worked flawlessly since then. Sound quality on the handsets is great, and I haven't had a single dropped call (surprising, since my Bolivian internet provider isn't that reliable). The only downside I've found is that you can't share address book entries from one phone to the others - I'd prefer to only have to enter the numbers once. Other than that, this setup and Vonage in general is great.

Works great in my townhouse.
I bought this unit when the batteries on my old wireless Uniden phone system started to go bad. It's always cheaper to buy a new phone system then it is to replace the batteries on three wireless phones. Since I was also replacing an old Linksys VOIP router that was tied into my Vonage account with an wireless router. After seeing a few reviews on C-Net I decided this was worth the gamble, especially for the great bargain I found on E-bay.I keep base unit centered in my home in the main living room since it has caller ID. Hard part was I had to route an Ethernet cord from the router through the walls and to the base. I keep one phone on each floor including the furnish basement. Sound is great on most calls but I notice that on some incoming cellphone calls the volume drops but only on...

Quality not the best
I'm using this phone with Vonage and have the base upstairs. On the main floor, there is a noticeable amount of static. Prior to this system I had a V-Tech phone system that was 5 or 6 years old. Besides the battery not lasting very long, the quality was much better.

Excellent design, service and value
We purchased an Ooma Hub & Scout in April 2009 to replace a Vonage VoIP connection. We are very satisfied with the hub, and therefore purchased an Ooma Telo for a second location. This review describes our Ooma Telo experience so far, and compares it to the Hub/Scout.The Telo is well designed and sleek. The controls are touch controls and very sensitive. There is a USB port in the back - presumably for future expansion. Like the hub, there are two RJ45 ethernet jacks - one to connect to the "internet", and the second to connect to one's home network. There are also two RJ11 phone jacks. One to connect to your existing landline, should you have one, and decide to integrate the landline and Telo. The other is to connect to your phone. The setup instructions are simple. While it is recommended that the Telo be connected directly to your cable/dsl/wimax modem (i.e. before your router), it works equally well after the router. We chose to connect the Telo to the...

PureVoice

In today’s connected home environment with Internet file sharing, video streaming, on-line gaming, Ooma’s PureVoice Technology delivers clear audio even if substandard calling conditions exist. Ooma PureVoice Technology is composed of four key components.

Advanced Voice Compression

Ooma uses an advanced voice compression algorithm that reduces bandwidth consumption by 60% over standard VoIP technology. That leaves you with more bandwidth for all other online activities and increases the likelihood that your voice traffic will be delivered properly by your ISP.

Wire-speed QoS

Even though Ooma uses only a fraction of the bandwidth of standard VoIP technology, preserving voice quality requires that those packets arrive on time. The Ooma Telo prioritizes voice packets without slowing down the rest of your network. This way you can enjoy crystal clear calls even as you're uploading your latest video clips.

Adaptive Redundancy

Packet loss is the enemy of VoIP - it can cause voice to sound stuttered or garbled. The Ooma Telo detects packet loss on your Internet connection and automatically sends redundant packets to boost the clarity of your phone call.

Encrypted Calls

Ooma takes your privacy seriously. We use the same encryption technology governments use to protect classified data to protect your conversations. This makes Ooma even more secure than the traditional landline.

Discover Ooma Premier

If you want to add a bundle of enhanced calling features that will get your home phone service firing on all cylinders, Ooma Telo includes a free 60-day trial to Ooma Premier, a suite of enhanced calling features. You can also add Ooma Premier to your service for $9.99/month or $119.99/year. If you sign up for a year, you'll have the option of retaining your current telephone number for free ($39.99 value), or receiving a free HD handset ($49.99 value). Add Unwanted Callers to Your Blacklist
Ooma allows you to instantly add unwanted callers to your blocked list. If telemarketers are harassing you, use ooma Lounge to add them to your blacklist. You'll have the option to block future calls completely or send them straight to voicemail. The choice is yours.

Buyer beware ------ of uninformed reviewers! Update: 1 year later
February 11th, 2011 -- update:It's been a little over a year since I wrote this review. Approximately 6 months after installing the Telo, I wrote an update that outlined an issue that diminished my initial enthusiasm about it. That update concerned an annoying delay that we experience, likening some conversations to that heard with 2-way radios, where it's easy for users to "talk over" one another. This update, however, reports on the failure of my unit and Ooma's customer service response in addressing it.Sometime during the post-Christmas, year-end holiday chaos, my I noticed that when I would press the Play button on the unit to play back messages, there apparently weren't any messages to play. But I use the feature found in the Premier service that allows you to listen to the messages online, so I didn't really think too much about it and didn't really seriously consider that it was a failure of the unit. After things settled down into the new...

A great looking and improved Ooma VOIP device
The Ooma Telo replaces or will replace the Ooma core system. The core system included a hub and scout. The scout and services of the scout are gone from new Ooma devices. In the future, some (but not all) services of the scout may return via the proprietary wireless Ooma Telo handset. For those who don't know, Ooma is an internet telephone company. Linksys PAP2 Works Great! Vonage service is another thing.
We have had our Linksys PAP2 Vonage phone adapter for over a year and never have had a problem with it. Its too bad people are reviewing Vonage's "service" vs Linksys' "product" in these reviews. I've never done anything but plug the adapter in and it works like a charm! Good job Linksys!

Product Description

The Linksys Phone Adapter enables high-quality feature-rich telephone service through your cable or DSL Internet connection. Just plug it into your home Router or Gateway and use the two standard telephone jacks to connect your existing phones or fax machines. Each phone jack operates independently, with separate phone service and phone numbers -- like having two phone lines. With an appropriate Internet telephone service provider, youll get clear telephone reception and reliable fax connections, even while using the Internet at the same time for normal data operations. With Vonage, you can make calls through the Internet, potentially save on long-distance charges, and access a rich assortment of call features. Plans start as low as $14.99 per month, and the Premium Unlimited plan offers unlimited calling to the U.S. and Canada for only $24.99 per month. And it's easy to use: For making and receiving calls, Vonage works just like a traditional phone service; no special access codes or account numbers are required.

Easy Hardware Setup

All Vonage plans let you enjoy the call features you've become accustomed to—call waiting, caller ID, voicemail, call forwarding, three-way calling, call return, repeat dialing, and reliable long distance—plus other features that may be new to you. For example, you can receive your voicemail as an email attachment, and you'll have a phone number that travels with you. Visit http://www.vonage.com/amazon to see which plan is best suited to your lifestyle and budget. The low monthly rates are quite reasonably priced, in our opinion, and with them you may save considerably compared to traditional phone service. International calls are available for additional low fees, with one economical exception: calls from the U.S. to Canada are treated like domestic long distance calls, rather than international. Vonage also supports short-form emergency 911 services, where available. (Dialing 911 requires activation and operates differently than traditional 911. See Vonage's website for details.)

This Vonage Internet Phone Service Starter Kit is quick and easy to install in your home or business. All you need is a high-speed Internet connection (cable or DSL modem) and a touchtone phone. Setup is simple: Just connect one end of the included Vonage-certified Linksys PAP2 phone adapter to your Ethernet router or gateway and the other end to your telephone. Then sign up for Vonage phone service. An extra port on the adapter allows you to attach an additional phone or fax machine. You'll have instant access to both phone lines, each with a separate number, and you can even assign them different area codes (subject to availability). You can still surf the web while talking on the phone or receiving faxes. The phone adapter includes a generous three-year warranty from the manufacturer.

Linksys PAP2
I am going to strictly comment on the Linksys PAP2. A lot of the reviews on here have been for the Vonage service. The Linksys PAP2 is NOT THE Vonage service, but one of many adapters you can use.I am extreamly satisfied with my Linksys PAP2. It is small, light weight, and perfect for those who need to travel. The voice quality is excellent and people say I do not sound like I am talking over VOIP. There is no line noise, static, popping, etc.I am giving this product 4 stars. Why? Because there is only ONE ethernet port. If you have a router, just connect the PAP2 to one of your available ethernet ports and you are good to go. If you do not have a router, consider getting another Vonage phone adapter with built in 4-port router. There are several.

Good Value with a lot of features, but...
I've been wanting to switch from traditional phone service (Verizon) to VoIP (Vonage) for a while, and I jumped in with the release of the Linksys products. Here's what I really, really like about the Vonage service: Setup is a breeze, and PAP2 is diminutive, so if you are travelling to a location with broadband service, you can take the box with you to make/receive calls. In addition, the Vonage service is full of features that are either not available from the local telco, or would cost a small fortune every month. As much as I like the service, it does have drawbacks and limitations that you should be aware of:* Power or Broadband outages - If you lose power, or your broadband service is unavailable, you will not have phone service. Even though Vonage can ring your cell phone if this were to occur, this fallback can take up to 4 hours (per the Vonage website).* 911 Service - Unlike most VoIP services, Vonage *does* offer 911...

BUY Cisco PAP2 Phone Adapter for Vonage Internet Phone Service

Where Can I buy Vonage

I remember when Vonage released their 1st iPhone App and the extreme disappointment that many Vonage customers had feeling that the mobile App should allow them to use/connect to the service they were already paying for. To their credit, they did release the Vonage Extensions App that does allow existing Vonage subscribers to use their smartphones to make international calls that are tied to their existing Vonage accounts that they already pay for. Now Vonage is back with a NEW App Vonage Mobile. If you are calling or receiving calls from a regular Vonage customer those are also FREE. A bit confusing, but just keep in mind that you'll need a mobile phone (doesn't have to be an iPhone) to set up the App on your iPad or iPod touch and that any calls you make from your iDevices will appear to the person on the other end as if they... I then tried placing a call from my iPad to my iPhone and oddly enough it worked through the Vonage App. I let it do this (privacy concerns aside) because not only do I want my contacts in the App but it can identify any existing Vonage phone numbers for your contacts and put a little "V"onage logo next to them. It was nice that the App offered me a choice to call the number using my regular minutes or Vonage credits. Vonage Mobile appears to want to compete head to head with Skype for FREE or low cost voice calls. If you download the App for your mobile device and your friends/family download it for their mobile devices (iOS or Android) you can call each other all you want for FREE. I was shocked to see that their toll-free 866 number was NOT a Vonage number. As a matter of coincidence I'd been meaning to call Vonage customer service to get my Vongage phone adapter replaced at home.

So I recommend that you get Vonage if you are planning to get VoIP And also, the reviews that you read online about VoIP like Vonage, most of the time you will see negative reviews and it is 99% of the time not true. Very few people actually leave reviews of their service when it is working normal, but a lot who are having difficulty because of some stupid things go online to find a solution and while at it, they leave bad reviews, so don’t listen to them. Otherwise, the bandwidth will be used up by the Internet and your phone conversation will be broken up. To answer your question, I recommend that you get Vonage. I mah use all that money i’m saving on the phone bills this year to buy me somthing nice. Vonage is like the monopoly of VoIP right now. i just bought the one with video because of my daughter, so we don’t have to travel much for my family to see and talk to her. i got mine for almost a year now, i even have the one with VIDEO, and i sent a couple of units to Kansas and Philippines, so now my daughter can see her grandparents as easy as picking up the phone. And if it is minimum like that, then make sure when you are on the phone, you don’t surf the internet. try it and hope it works out for u. To get the most out of ANY VoIP, you must have a good internet connection.
